Airport Advisory Board - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of eight (8) members, five (5) of which shall be residents of the City of Corsicana, two (2) of which shall be ex-officio members residing within Navarro County, outside the City of Corsicana, and one (1) ex-officio member who shall be the Airport Manager. Ex-officio members shall be non-voting members. This board was established to study and recommend to the City Council steps and procedures to realize immediate and long range goals for the maintenance and improvement of the Corsicana Municipal Airport.
Airport Board of Adjustment - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of five (5) members. Appointed by Airport Zoning Board to serve as an appeals board to hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the City Manager in the enforcement of the Airport Zoning Ordinance.
Airport Zoning Board - (Five) Year Term - Composed of five (5) members; two (2) appointed by the City Council and two (2) appointed by Navarro County Commissioners Court. The fifth member shall be elected by a majority of the members appointed by the City and County and shall serve as Chairman of the Board. This board shall have the powers and exercise the duties as prescribed by state law in regulating and restricting the height of structures and objects of natural growth, and otherwise regulating the use of property in the vicinity of the Corsicana Municipal Airport by creating the appropriate zones and establishing the boundaries thereof.
Library Board - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of nine (9) members, one (1) member being the Mayor. This board shall have the primary responsibility for the operation of the library. Said board may adopt such rules and regulations as it deems necessary for the transaction of its business and control of the library, the grounds and buildings, and the services rendered to the public. All acts of the board shall be in conformance with ordinances, policies and regulations promulgated by the Corsicana City Council or under its direction.
Planning & Zoning Board - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of seven (7) members, all residents of the City of Corsicana and owning real property therein. It is the function of the Planning & Zoning Board to hold a public hearing on any application for any amendment or change to the Zoning Ordinance prior to making its recommendation and report to the City Council.
Recreation and Parks Commission - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of five (5) members. It is the duty of the Parks and Recreation Commission to make recommendations to the City Council concerning park and recreational activities within the City and to solicit private donations to assist in funding park improvements.
Zoning Board of Adjustment - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of five (5) members and two (2) alternate members. Functions as an appeal board. Responsible for holding public hearings and making determinations where it is alleged there is error on any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Building Official in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance.
Electrical Board - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of five members selected as follows: two (2) master electricians; one (1) general contractor; one (1) person from TU Electric who shall rotate once each year; and one (1) member who, in the opinion of the City Council, is qualified, through education and practical experience, to perform the duties of a board member. This board makes recommendations and suggestions for the improvement, enforcement and administration of the Electrical Code. Adopts rules, regulations and policies for examination and re-examination of applications for issuance of electrical licenses. Also acts as an appeals board in settling differences arising from code interpretation by the electrical inspector and any permit holder.
Animal Services Board – Two Year Term – Composed of seven (7) members: one (1) City representative; one (1) County representative; two (2) Humane Society members; one (1) veterinarian; and two (2) members at-large. Serves as an advisory group to the City Manager for the purpose of assessing and making recommendations for the efficient operation of the Corsicana Animal Shelter.
Building, Plumbing & Mechanical Appeals and Advisory Board - Four (4) Year Term - Consists of seven (7) regular members, two (2) alternates and two (2) advisory (non-voting) members. Regular board members are appointed as follows:
A Licensed Master Plumber
A Licensed Journeyman or Master Plumber
A Building Contractor
A Concrete Contractor
A Licensed Mechanical Contractor
A Representative of Lone Star Gas Company
The two (2) advisory members will be the City Engineer and the City Health Officer. This board serves as an advisory board to the City, making such recommendations for improvement and revision codes as it may from time to time deem necessary and proper in light of the development of new materials, methods or techniques. Also serves as an appeals board where parties involved do not agree with code interpretation.
City County Health Department Board - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of seven (7) members. Mayor and County Judge also serve as voting members. Functions as an advisory board to the Public Health Department.
Housing Authority Commission - Two (2) Year Term - Consists of five (5) members. Authorized to transact business and exercise its powers pursuant to the Housing Authority Law of the State of Texas.
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION – Three (3) Year Term – Composed of three (3) commissioners. All such commissioners shall be of good moral character, resident citizens of Corsicana, shall have resided in Corsicana for a period of more than three (3) years, shall each be over the age of 25 years, and shall not have held any public office within the preceding three years. This commission shall make such rules and regulations for the proper conduct of its business as it shall find necessary and expedient, provided that no rules or regulations shall ever be adopted which will permit the appointment or employment of any person without good moral character; or any person unfit mentally or physically; or any person incompetent to discharge the duties of such appointment or employment.
