Corsicana Municipal Airport

Headquarters for the Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force. The squadron's PT-19 "Daffy", an original 1942 WWII training plane, is located in the Tucker Hardgrave Memorial Hanger.

Home of the Glenn Cumbie Museum of the Corsicana Field Aviation Heritage Foundation. On display at the museum is a WW II, PT-19 "N193AR".

Future plans to build a memorial to aviation cadets on the field.

History:

Constructed in 1940 as a USAAF primary training field and operated as Air Activities of Texas, a civilian owned and managed facility. After training thousands of army pilots for WWII, the field closed in October 1944 and became a storage depot for a short time.

In 1946, the facility was turned over to the City of Corsicana and became the Municipal Airport. Buildings were used for veteran housing and later became the campus for Navarro Junior College. Many of the buildings were relocated to current Navarro College location.

The airport has seen many renovations over the years, and today serves local business concerns such as Collin St. Bakery, Russell Stover Candies, Guardian Industries, McCoy’s and many other private and government agencies.
